Banjar Regency through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Banjar Regency, Saturday (12/3), held a physics seminar with the theme “Innovation Physics and Applications for Disaster Mitigation of Peatland Fires in Kalimantan”. This is because, South Kalimantan is the third largest area in the whole island of Kalimantan and has the big potential of fires.
The seminar held at the Islamic Centre Martapura was attended by the Vice Regent of Banjar Regency H. Saidi Mansyur that was accompanied by the Head of the BPBD of Banjar Regency H Noor Sunarto.
In his speech, the Vice Regent of Banjar said that the students who is the forerunner of the successor of regional development is expected to continue to be committed and utilize his mind held activities or conduct an investigation of disaster mitigation, especially on the issue of peat fires are mostly located in the Banjar district.
“We ask the students and faculty can provide proven solutions through scientific research in order to become an innovative constructive input is very valuable for local development,” Vice Regent Banjar hope.
“As a government functionary of Banjar Regency, I opened the door wide for academia to carve thoughts and results of scientific research related to disaster management peat fires that often occur in South Kalimantan, especially in the Banjar Regency,” he said.
Finally, H. Saidi Mansyur believes the holding of this seminar is a positive step to add insight, knowledge, and exchange experiences problems frequently encountered in the field while finding a solution for the betterment of the region were equally we expect in the future.
