Banjar Regency is the third largest region which has fairly high soil fertility in South Kalimantan. In the agricultural sector up to 2015, gains of local government through Distanbunak of Banjar Regency, especially in the production of food crops (padi sawah/rice) reached 235.504 tons / ha, productivity of rice (padi) figures reached 38.60 Kw / Ha
Government in an effort to meet the food needs of the community continue to promoting and seeking a variety of integration activities towards increasing food production, especially rice in the year of 2017. The effort is expected in addition to be able to meet the food needs of society as well as a means of improving people’s income in Banjar Regency.
Harvest of rice which was held on Monday (28/03) in the village of Sungai Raya, Sub District of Simpang Empat, Banjar Regency includes the agricultural land area of 453.30 km², or 9.71 percent of the Banjar Regency that managed by Family Farmers “Keluarga Bersatu.”
Harvest event was attended by the Vice Regent of Banjar Regency H. Saidi Mansyur, representative of Kodim 1006 / Martapura, officials SKPD scope Banjar Regency, Danramil Simpang Empat, Agricultural worker of BP3K, Chairman of Farmers Group of Keluarga Bersatu H. Juhanis as well as the community in Sungai Raya village.
Through his speech, the Vice Regent of Banjar Regency conveys that the vast of rice fields in the village of Sungai Raya, Sub district of Simpang Empat reached 45.330 hectares. Thus, to further enhance rice production in the next year, the government deems it necessary to print new fields this year with the addition of approximately 1,000 ha along with the TNI (self-managed partnership with TNI/ Swakelola kerjasama dengan TNI), and funding from the state budget with the goal of rice self-sufficiency in Banjar district to stay awake in 2016.
If efforts to print these rice fields can be realized as soon as possible and that it can produce then the Banjar Regency can meet people’s food needs in the sectors of rice, although not one hundred percent.
Hopefully the harvest together with Kodim 1006 / Mtp on this day can bring keberkahan for the people of the village of Sungai Raya, Sub district of Simpang Empat, Banjar Regency in particular and society in general. “Hopefully what we can accept and accomplish now able to increase the income of farmers, which in turn well-being of our society can be realized,” he concluded.
