What is the meaning of independence for us today? Nowadays, where we are both enjoying the fruit of the struggle of the past independence heroes, as the next generation we should be able to appreciate the true meaning of independence.
Wednesday (6/1), the government of Banjar Regency in cooperation with Kodim 1006 Martapura, Polres Banjar, Veteran Foundation Executive Branch or Lembaga Veteran Pengurus Cabang (LVPC) of Banjar Regency, commemorating the 59th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia Veterans Legion that on this occasion the theme “Surge Revolutionary National Movement Mental To Increase Awareness of State and Defend The Country “.
The officer of Banjar Regent Dr Rachmadi Kurdi who on that occasion was represented by the Secretary of Banjar Regency Ir Nasrunsyah MP said, this is our obligation as a generation to uphold the services of our past Independence heroes, which we can feel the peace right now. It is appropriate that we as a generation have to fill the sense of independence that fought by our heroes with the positive things that certainly can help in the development process of the State.
The celebration of Veterans Day was also attended by the Commander of Kodim 1006 Martapura, Chief of Polres Banjar and the legions of veterans throughout the Banjar Regency. Nasrunsyah also said, it’s an honor to saw the veterans is still standing strong and also fill the result of the efforts that they did in the past, even the veterans are also support the process of accelerated development by conducting activities in line with the development program that implemented by the Banjar Regency.
According to him, we should be equally commemorating the anniversary of the legion veterans like this, not only on veterans legions-self, but also can be carried out within the scope of education, such as school environment, where we can teach the students about how to honor our heroes and the veterans who fought for our independence of Republic of Indonesia. So that we can feel the results up to now, which they should be able to continue the spirit of struggle. Not to take arms or fight the enemy, but rather how they can charge the sense of independence with positive activities and can be useful to the Nation.
The chairman of Veterans Foundation Executive Branch or Lembaga Veteran Pengurus Cabang (LVPC) of Banjar Regency, Viktor Siregar expressed appreciation touched to be given by the government of Banjar Regency that always respect to the Veterans legion which is very meaningful to them. According to Siregar, he acknowledges the existence of the Veteran Foundation itself; moreover, the government of Banjar Regency would give more attention for them, which can be seen from events that have been held to date in which the legion veterans always get special places around them.(asep/boma)
